REDWOOD, CA, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On Thursday, October 8, 2026, Learning Links will hold a ribbon-cutting at its newly opened inclusive early childhood education center at Elco Yards, in the heart of downtown Redwood City’s newest mixed-use development. Scheduled from 10 am to noon, the event will include remarks by San Mateo County Supervisors Lisa Gauthier and Jackie Speier, Redwood City Vice Mayor Kaia Eakin, and school and program staff.

“AbilityPath has been a cornerstone of the San Mateo County community for over 100 years,” said Bryan Neider, CEO of AbilityPath, the parent organization of Learning Links. “Redwood City will be our fifth inclusive preschool site on the Peninsula, furthering our focus on the critical early years of a child’s development.”

Learning Links Redwood City at Elco Yards directly addresses the critical shortage of infant and toddler care in Redwood City and mitigates the high cost of quality childcare for working families. The program includes children at every developmental stage, including those with developmental delays or disabilities, such as autism. In addition, a state-subsidized preschool program offers discounted enrollment.

Located at 200 Lathrop Street, the new center is open from 7:30 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and transitional kindergarten students. By offering full-day, year-round care for up to 74 children and prioritizing a minimum of 10 California State Preschool Program (CSPP) subsidies, the school ensures that economic status or developmental stage is never a barrier to a high-quality early learning experience. This program aligns with San Mateo County District Four’s priority of supporting community-driven solutions that help families thrive.

“Today is very special for San Mateo County families who now have new and dynamic options for early learning pathways for all children,” said San Mateo County Supervisor Lisa Gauthier. “I am proud to have helped to champion the creation of this facility and to provide quality early education for all children while reducing the financial burden for working parents.”

With support from Supervisors Gauthier and Speier, the County of San Mateo awarded a $200,000 grant for one-time capital investments in furniture, fixtures, equipment, and materials for Learning Links Redwood City, which was instrumental in establishing the preschool.

“Making child care more accessible and affordable has been a top priority for Supervisor Gauthier and me,” said Supervisor Jackie Speier. “Access to high-quality, affordable childcare is essential to the well-being of children, families and our entire community. Too many San Mateo County families struggle to find a childcare option that meets their needs, while the cost of care can put tremendous pressure on working parents. The opening of Learning Links in Redwood City is an important step toward expanding access to quality early learning in the county, and being able to welcome a facility that is dedicated to inclusiveness is an accomplishment for the County and the City.”

The new facility is designed to serve as a model for "Inclusive by Design" early education, providing high-quality care tailored to each child's individual needs, fostering welcoming learning environments where every child can learn, grow, and belong. Each Learning Links location has a Developmental Specialist who provides real-time coaching to teachers, ensuring learning supports happen naturally in the classroom and extend to the whole class.
