LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, August 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Donna Tryfman, candidate for Los Angeles County Superior Court Office No. 131, today announced that she has earned the endorsement of every identified newspaper editorial board that weighed in on the race—an unprecedented showing of editorial support spanning Los Angeles County and Southern California.

Tryfman’s editorial endorsements include the Southern California News Group, whose family of publications includes the Daily News, Daily Breeze, Press-Telegram, Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Whittier Daily News, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Redlands Daily Facts, The Sun and The Press-Enterprise; the Metropolitan News-Enterprise, a leading publication covering law and the courts; and Colorado Boulevard News, serving Pasadena and the surrounding communities. The campaign also lists endorsements from individual Southern California News Group publications including the Daily News, Press-Telegram, Daily Breeze, Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Whittier Daily News, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Redlands Daily Facts, The Sun and The Press-Enterprise.

The Metropolitan News-Enterprise was particularly direct in its assessment, identifying Tryfman as “the best choice among the four contestants” for Office No. 131 and citing her extensive courtroom experience and work handling challenging felony cases.

The breadth of the editorial support gives Tryfman a distinction in a judicial race where voters have limited information about the candidates.
“I am deeply honored by the confidence these editorial boards have placed in me,” said Tryfman. “A judicial election should ultimately be about qualifications, experience, temperament, integrity and judgment. Editorial boards have examined my record and my career and concluded that I am prepared to serve as a Superior Court judge. I am grateful for their confidence, and I will continue working to earn the trust of every voter.”

Tryfman is a veteran Los Angeles County Public Defender with decades of courtroom experience. She has handled serious and complex criminal cases and has served in leadership roles within the Public Defender community. Her campaign has emphasized that she is running to be “everyone’s judge”—a judge who will apply the law fairly, protect constitutional rights, listen carefully and treat every person who enters the courtroom with dignity and respect.

The editorial endorsements add to a broad coalition of support for Tryfman that includes judges and former judges, prosecutors, public defenders, elected officials, labor organizations, Democratic clubs, legal organizations and community leaders.

“Judges should not be representatives of a political faction or special interest,” Tryfman said. “They must be independent, fair and willing to make difficult decisions based on the law and the facts. That is the responsibility I am asking voters to entrust to me.”
